Strategic Implementation for $500M NYSE Company

A $500 Million publicly traded NYSE commercial real estate company serving class “A” office properties in the New York Tri-State area was looking to develop, document, communicate and execute a Strategic Plan and roll out a mentoring program.

Problem:

The CEO wanted to increase the leadership capacity of his senior team and provide a higher level of organizational and operational discipline and effectiveness through a strategic planning process.

Recommended Solution/Deliverables:

  • Delivered to senior management team, The Power of Fundamentals training based upon Stuart R. Levine’s Wall Street Journal Business Bestseller The Six Fundamentals of Success.  Prior to the training class, conducted interviews to learn more about the company strategy, opportunity areas and what they wanted to accomplish from the training.  Training deliverable provided each participant with a Performance Dashboard including activities that were aligned with company’s goals.  The Performance Dashboard was then incorporated into their performance review process to ensure that people were accountable for the activities on their dashboards.
  • Training highlighted that the company did not have a Strategic Plan that defined corporate goals and then translated those goals into the level of detail necessary to drive individual and organizational operations.  SL&A worked with the CEO and senior executives to develop a Strategic Plan that was shared with the Board of Directors and the larger executive team

Results:

The Company now has a focused, complete and fully executable Strategic Plan with clear Vision, Mission, Goals, Strategies, Tactics and Action Plans.  SL&A is assisting Reckson in putting the proper structure in place to execute the plan effectively and to be able to track progress against meeting defined goals.

 SL&A is currently working on facilitating a process for Strategy Owners to:

  • Review Vision, Mission, Goals, Strategies and Tactics for understanding and internalization purposes
  • Review high level Action Plans for their respective Strategies and determine if they are appropriate, complete, fully support each Strategy and documented in a common manner
  • Meet with support individuals to compile detailed Action Plans and incorporate detailed plans  into the overall Strategic Plan document

SL&A is also working on:

  • Conducting an offsite planning session with the CEO and leadership team to finalize the Strategic Plan
  • Developing a Communications Program for Strategic Plan Owners
  • Creating a Mentoring Program for high potential executives and managers
